Over $8.6 million in grant funds has been awarded
to projects that improve patient care,
advance community health care
programs, provide for community and
professional education and conduct

Grant programs include:
General Grant Program
To support projects in the specialty areas
of MDMC as well as regional non-profits, which support prevention and
community based services for the patient population served by
MDMC.
Designated Fund Awards
Restricted by the donor for use by a specific department or program to help address immediate needs.
Abilities First Fund
Established in 1999 to help people with
disabilities in purchasing equipment and aids that would assist them to more
fully participate in life, work and school. This fund is used only after
all other payment mechanisms are explored and exhausted.
Van Gorden Fund: New Initiatives Outreach
Open to MDMC, Polinsky and other non-profits in our community working to meet the needs of people with
disabilities and to support and promote new and innovative projects in
rehabilitation services, research and education.
Van Gorden Fund: New Initiatives Polinsky
Restricted for use by SMDC/Polinsky Medical Rehabilitation Center to support and
promote new and innovative projects of
rehabilitation services, research and education.
Van Gorden Fund: Sara M. Young Education Fund
To provide educational opportunities to rehabilitation patients, family members and
practitioners.
Van Gorden Fund: Albert Gonska Fund
Restricted for use by SMDC/Polinsky Medical
Rehabilitation Center to assist in providing
high quality, innovative rehabilitation services and programs for children.
