Chemical
Dependency Program
Miller-Dwan offers confidential chemical dependency services for adults and
adolescents. Active family participation is encouraged, and the philosophy
of Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon is followed. Our flexible programming
includes inpatient treatment, day and evening outpatient services, relapse
track, a family program, and aftercare.
.
Chemical Dependency
Assessment Services This is the first step for
individuals facing the challenges of chemical dependency. A comprehensive
evaluation and assessment process is done to determine the appropriate level
of care for each individual.
.
Adult Primary Inpatient
Program This is an intensive form of
treatment. Patients ages 18 through geriatric are hospitalized at
Miller-Dwan until they are stabilized from the
acute affects of addiction. The course of treatment focuses on group therapy, lectures, and individual
conferences. This program also includes family counseling, discharge
planning, and aftercare services.
.
Adolescent Inpatient
Program This program serves adolescents age 12
to 18 who require acute care. Treatment includes a structured daily routine,
group therapy, lectures, individual conferences, family counseling,
discharge planning, and aftercare services.
.
Primary Day and
Evening Outpatient Programs Clients in this program
are adults who are diagnosed with an addiction, who may be employed, and who
may have a supportive network of family and friends. This program is
individualized and may be attended part or full time. After being discharged
from the program, clients receive aftercare and attend either day or evening
meetings four times per week.
.
Adolescent Outpatient
Program Treatment in this program is based on
the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and
emphasizes education and therapy for the teenagers and their families. The course of treatment is tailored to
each adolescent's needs and includes classroom presentations on teen-related
issues. Family counseling and aftercare are also provided. Adolescents
receive on-site schoolroom instruction with a
teacher contracted from school district 709.
.
Problem Gambling
Component This program
offers assessment, education, counseling, and referral for chemically dependent clients with
gambling-related problems such as compulsive or pathological gambling.
Individuals who enroll in this program must demonstrate a willingness to
treat the gambling and the chemical dependency at the same time.
.
Relapse Treatment
Program This program is
for those individuals who completed chemical dependency treatment, but began using abusive substances
again. Clients in this program admit they have a problem with dependency,
and demonstrate motivation toward recovery. This program offers a
low-stress environment and therapy focusing
on practical living skills and problem-solving techniques, such as identifying the warning signs of relapse
and modifying destructive behaviors. Treatment typically lasts 12 weeks,
followed by a 26-week aftercare program.
.
Family
Program Since addictions have a powerful impact on family
structure, this program provides ongoing support and guidance to family
members. It emphasizes communication, role
changes, family systems, and available community support services.
.
Follow-up
Program Ongoing support is the focus of this program.
Sessions are held once a week for six months, consisting of a series of 26
workshops on alcohol and chemical dependency and other challenges of
everyday life. This program encourages further growth for recovering addicts
and their families. Intervention services, information and
education are available for those concerned about their own or another person's chemical use.
