Rehabilitation
Services
Miller-Dwan's Rehabilitation Center
is the
region's most experienced rehabilitation program, but more
importantly, our team of professionals is devoted to meeting the special needs of each
individual. Miller Dwan's
Rehabilitation Center is accredited by CARF...The Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission and
is the only regional program accredited in brain and spinal cord injury
rehabilitation, and pediatric family centered care.
An interdisciplinary team approach is
practiced at Miller Dwan's Rehab
Center. A variety of professionals work together to promote optimum function and
personal independence for each patient with a disability such as stroke, spinal cord
injury, head injury, multiple sclerosis,
medically complex, orthopedic, and other neuromuscular and musculoskeletal
conditions.
Perhaps the most distinguishing feature of
Miller-Dwan's Rehabilitation Center is the
emphasis on active participation. Each patient spends a minimum of three
hours per treatment day with a team of rehabilitation professionals.
Patients and families are involved in all aspects of their rehabilitation -
from making decisions to monitoring progress. Family day sessions are also
held to review the progress and promote education and active
participation.
Patients of
Miller-Dwan's Rehabilitation Center benefit from a variety of service
components, including a
physician who specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation, nursing,
speech-language pathology, physical therapy, therapeutic recreation,
psychological services and counseling, occupational therapy, nutritional
assessments,
pastoral care, and social services. The fitness center located
adjacent to Miller-Dwan offers
a lap pool, therapy pool, exercise equipment,
and a running/walking track.
The
programs and staff at Miller-Dwan's
Rehab Center adhere to
the highest level of ethics
for their
prospective disciplines and the
Medical Center.
