Pediatric Rehabilitation Services
The best medicine against childhood injury and illness is prevention. In spite of the best preventative attempts, children have accidents, become ill, or are born with impairment. For these reasons, Miller-Dwan has pediatric rehabilitation services at their Rehabilitation Center.
.
Pediatric Program
Miller Dwan's Rehab Center treats children with injury or impairment resulting in an activity limitation. We offer the region's only CARF accredited inpatient comprehensive rehabilitation program for pediatrics, from infants to age 18. Through
evaluation, inpatient rehabilitation, discharge planning and outpatient referrals, we help children reach their full potential. We even have a Day Hospital Program that may be an appropriate choice for your child.
Our rehabilitation services are conveniently located on one floor allowing access to a variety of resources. Rooms are decorated appropriately for children, in addition to a toy room and play area.

Family centered care
Hospitalization can have a profound effect on the family, especially when the patient is a
little one. We understand this and serve the needs of everyone involved through education
and support.
Family involvement is paramount to the child's progress. The philosophy of family centered pediatric care is to support and respect the important central role of the family as caregivers, decision-makers and advocates. However, there may be days when respite time is needed
and we encourage the family to let us know if they need time to themselves.
Miller Dwan's Rehabilitation Center encourages friends and siblings to visit the child and participate in therapy when appropriate. Parents or guardians are also welcome to room-in
with their child to help make his or her stay more comfortable.
Playtime is built into the child's rehabilitation program and throughout the day. In addition,
there may be opportunity to use St. Mary's Child Care Center allowing the patient interaction with children his or her own age.
